Testing PS6 with QuickConnect link and other issues
#1
I want to share access to our photos with Photostation 6. To this end, I have been testing PS6. On our home LAN, it seems to work as described, but I have not yet been able to establish access from the Internet using QuickConnect. Also, I have been reading about something called "Photo Share," used to edit photos more comprehensively (I am particulary interested in applying metadata to the photos), but have not yet determined whether or not this is just a mode of PS6 (and how to access it), or is a separate app....there is evidently no Synology app of this name.
My deeper concern is whether or not my 6-year-old DS213 is even going to let me use all these features. It will stream music and movies from the NAS OK, but current versions of Plex don't support it. I'm not enthusiastic about buying a DS218+, but if that's what it takes......

I don't see why a 213 won't support Synology apps. It's only 3rd party ones that have issues. I have a 412+ and that is still going strong (till DS 7)

I don't have any answer to your particular issue with PS6 as I don't use it myself. But I do use QC with DS Video and that works fine.

I am currently running DSM 5.2-5967 Update 9 on my DS213, and it says "you've installed all important updates." I just ran across something in my reading that says I need to be running Photostation v. 6.6 and my completely updated DSM is running Photostation v. 6.3-2977. Does this point to my hardware only supporting this version of DSM, so that I cannot run the latest version of Photostation?

An addendum to post #3 above: I have discovered that "all important updates" depends on one's interpretation. After switching to "all updates period," I am now running DSM 6.2.1-23824 Update 4, and it tells me I am "up to date." We shall see how this version goes.....
