Surveillance Station live feed view issue
#1
Hi all,
I've got two cameras set up in SS, one is an old Foscam fi9821p, which works fine (aside from disconnecting from my network a lot) and the other is one of the Hikvision OEM clone doorbells.    The doorbell actually stays connected pretty well, and works reliably just set up as ONVIF.    The issue I have is that I can view the live feed and recordings fine when I do so through the client on my iMac at home, but if I try to view through a browser on mac, windows or chromeOS, I just get the spinning loading logo and no video.

I've tried in both chrome and firefox with no luck.

Anyone else running into this?  Any ideas?

It sounds like something (firewall, router?) is blocking a port somewhere.

Thought that might be the case, but I tried it on the same network as well as from off-site.

Have you tried the client app under Windows?

I just did that, and interestingly enough, from offsite, using the windows client, it works perfectly... but in any browser I try, it fails to load.

So it seems it's a browser thing, but not from the viewing side?   I've tried browsers on mac and windows, from onsite and offsite, and can't view live or recorded.

It's great that it will work using the client offsite, but that doesn't help much when I'm stuck with a chromebook, or someone's borrowed laptop.

So, I just tried it (I'm in a hotel 200 miles away) using Quick Connect to connect to my NAS. Then click on Surveillance Station and then Live View. It works fine using Firefox and I assume it will using other browsers.

So, what are you doing differently?

Good question!

I think the secret lies in whatever causes ONLY that one camera to not be viewable. Is it because it's an ONVIF feed?

The other camera works fine.

All of my cameras are ONVIF. I don't think that's the issue as ONVIF just describes how SS talks to the cameras.

Ahh well, was just a theory since it's the only communication difference between the two cameras.

One thing I haven't tried yet is updating firmware on the camera itself, so I guess that's the next thing to attempt.

What Codecs are the cameras using?
A lot of the browser based views won’t display H265 content, but work fine on the Client Apps
DS916+ with 3 x 4TB WD Red drives in SHR1, 1 x 4TB WD Purple for Surveillance Station, 2 x HikVision cameras on separate vlan.
